Three basic desires which cause conflict:

A.  Desire to ---have---.  ----Possessions---.  (vv. 1b - 2a)

we use things and love people.

we love things and use people.

Not tithing

Desiring more and more

Making unwise purchases

B.  Desire to ---feel---.   ----Pleasure----.   (v.3)

C.   The desire to ---be---.    ----Pride and power---.   (v. 4, 5)

Two reasons desires not fulfilled:

1.  We do not ---pray---.  (v. 2c)

2.  When we pray, we have ---wrong motives---.   (v. 3)

III.  The cure:   ---Humility---   (vv. 6, 10)

Grace

The four actions:

1.  Give in to ---God---.  (v. 7)

2.  Get wise to ---Satan---.  (v. 7b)
